On July 4th, 2024, CREACT4MED organized the fourth and last Regional Alumni Network event, which took the form of a webinar titled “Creative Minds, Sustainable Futures. Fostering SDGs through Entrepreneurship in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) in the Mediterranean”.
The session was led by Maya Karkour, an environmental and circular economy specialist and founder of EcoConsulting in Lebanon. Moderated by Ángela Campos, Project and Events Advisor of the CREACT4MED Project, from the European Institute of the Mediterranean, it also featured key speakers such as Nader Akoum from Studio Madane & Anna Ibañez from MedWaves, who presented best practice cases in sustainability in the CCI. After a brief introduction and welcoming remarks from María Ruiz de Cossio, Project Coordinator of CREACT4MED, the session focused on the significance of sustainability in the CCI sector, exploring how sustainable development goals (SDGs) can be advanced through innovative entrepreneurial activities.
The Regional Alumni Network Event series aims to complement capacity-building activities offered by CREACT4MED by providing knowledge and skills to entrepreneurs from the Southern Mediterranean on key CCI topics to further promote their professional development and networking opportunities. The event was organized by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA) in collaboration with EcoConsulting, and it brought together 26 experts, practitioners, and entrepreneurs from the cultural and creative industries from over 11 countries.
